Faith Leaders, Churches and International Community Rally Around MOGmusic’s Back to Basics at Wembley

MOGmusic’s Back to Basics Worship Experience at OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday, 22 August, drew not only thousands of worshippers, but also significant support from Christian leaders, churches, gospel music stakeholders, institutions and worshippers from across the United Kingdom and Europe. The gathering brought together a remarkably diverse representation of the Christian community, reflecting a growing hunger for worship, prayer and revival across the UK. Among the Christian leaders and personalities who attended the experience were Rev. David Antwi of Kharis Church, Prophet David Kojo Kyei (Kaywa), Apostle Dalkeith Amanor, Mahalia Buchanan, Wayne Hermz, Elder Juanita Francis of Ruach City Church and Pastor Claude Halm of IPC. The event also attracted representation from organisations and institutions beyond the church. A high-powered delegation from Integrity Music was present, alongside a contingent from the Ghana High Commission to the United Kingdom and a team from the BBC. Perhaps even more significant was the breadth of support from the wider Christian community. Churches from across the United Kingdom were strongly represented, with pastors, ministry teams and congregations gathering at Wembley alongside worshippers who travelled from outside the UK, including attendees from Paris and Amsterdam, to be part of the experience. It transformed Back to Basics into more than a gathering around one gospel minister. Wembley became a meeting point for people from different churches, denominations, nationalities and expressions of Christian worship, united by a common desire to seek God. Throughout the evening, Emmanuel Smith, Warehouse Worship, Israel Houghton, Ntokozo Mbambo and Joe Mettle led the gathering through powerful moments of worship before MOGmusic took to the stage and led the thousands gathered into an extended time of worship, prayer and intercession. MOGmusic also took a moment during the evening to express his gratitude to those who had supported the vision and to acknowledge his pastor, Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah, for his guidance and leadership. The night also extended worship beyond the arena through a call to support the work of Compassion, giving attendees an opportunity to respond to the needs of others through charitable giving. But one of the strongest stories to emerge from Back to Basics was the sense that the gathering was part of something much bigger than a single night at Wembley. Across the United Kingdom, a renewed hunger for prayer, worship and the presence of God is being felt within different churches and Christian communities. Back to Basics added another torch to that growing flame — bringing thousands together across denominational, cultural and geographical lines around a simple call to return to the foundations of the Christian faith being: Jesus. Prayer. Worship. Surrender. For MOGmusic, the significance of Wembley was therefore not simply in gathering thousands in one of London’s most recognisable arenas, but in contributing to what many within the Christian community believe is a fresh move of God taking place across the United Kingdom. Back to Basics added another torch to the flame of revival.
